Everyone has their own special skills, talents, and abilities to contribute. Help our riders at RHWPA to achieve their goals!
MAKE A DONATION
Many people are concerned about where their dollars go when they donate. You can feel confident with RHWPA–there are no paid staff members, instructors or directors. Every cent goes to support our program, our riders and our horses!
All donations to RHWPA, a 501(c)3 organization, are tax deductible. You may also designate RHWPA for United Way #869 option. Thank you for your gift and for your support!
DO AN ONLINE SEARCH
What if you could earn cash for RHWPA every time you searched the Internet? Now you can!
Goodsearch.com is a search engine that donates ad revenue, about a penny per search, to the charity its users designate. Use it just like any search engine–it’s powered by Yahoo! so you get the same great results.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com and enter Riding for the Handicapped of Western Pennsylvania as the organization you want to support. If we all search just twice a day we can earn hundreds of dollars to support our riders without anyone spending a dime!
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME!
Volunteers always are needed as sidewalkers (will train: no experience necessary) and horse leaders (will train: extensive horse experience AND sidewalking experience required). As long as you are reasonably physically fit and at least 14 years of age, you can help!
Come to the barn any Monday (1:15 PM – 8:30 PM) or Thursday (3:30 PM – 9:00 PM) and ask for one of the board members or instructors on site to help you get started. If you are between the ages of 14 and 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the legally-required paperwork. NEW IN 2016: All new/returning volunteers will be required to complete criminal and child-abuse background checks. This is a Pennsylvania state law. Fees are waived for volunteers. Get started at www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home and https://epatch.state.pa.us
Come dressed comfortably for the weather, with suitable shoes or boots (NO SANDALS — these are horses, remember!). Volunteers may park in the lower lot and walk up the hill to the far barn and arena.
If you have any question about the weather conditions (hot, humid, stormy etc.), please call 724-443-4485 or 412-366-2220 after 10:00 AM. There will be a message if we are cancelled that day. You also can check our Facebook page or this website’s Blog page.
If you have any questions pertaining to volunteering, please use the Contact Info Page, or call T.M. Abbott, Program Director, at 724-443-4485
